Knowing the Bat Swing Mechanics

By Jeff Wise

It's pretty obvious that if you don't have a good bat swing then you're not going to have good stats. Every player understands the importance of being able to hit the ball. In addition, every player needs a little help at times with their bat swing mechanics.

As you develop bat swing mechanics, you will have fewer mechanical breakdowns later. Just to show you how important the mechanics are, even professional players must adjust their bat swing every now and then.

Coaches will help you practice your mechanics, but many times they're unable to give you the individual attention you may need. If that's the case, ask your dad or a fellow teammate to practice with you and give you some pointers. Parents of players should learn these mechanics so they can better help their kids.

To be good at your bat swing, you have to know the proper stance in the batter's box, you must always keep your eyes on the ball, you must feel comfortable holding the bat and you must be able to have fun. In addition, always maintain a consistent, smooth swing. You should practice your swing over and over again until you are comfortable with the correct swing.

Since your eyes are supposed to be on the ball at all times, you must point your head towards the pitcher. As the ball approaches your bat, point your head slightly down so you can continue to watch the ball. Keep your hips and front shoulder back before the ball is thrown, but as soon as you hit the ball they should be open. The trigger motion is very helpful and should also be practiced often.

The bat swing can be challenging, ant it is also something that takes awhile to master. But, with dedication and hard work, it will become second nature to you. Tweaking your mechanics is always much easier than starting from scratch. Just trust that you will develop a great bat swing.
