Effective Baseball Safety Measure To Practice

By Sue Ellis

In order to keep players as healthy as possible, baseball safety should always be a priority at all times Although less obviously dangerous than many contact sports, there are, nonetheless, many ways that players can become injured As long as players are reminded to use the proper gear at all times and always consider safety a priority, the game can be made much safer for everyone This article will list some of the most crucial baseball safety tips that should always be kept in mind

Sometimes players can be much safer simply by talking to each other at crucial times A fly ball, for example, can present a danger when outfielders aren't clear about who's going to get it It's standard practice for fielder to call out, "I've got it!" or something similar, and this is essential to avoid collisions The player who calls for it first should be given the room to go after it, though rarely two players may call for it at the same time It's important to drill players on this type of scenario so they know which fielder should be given the play, based on where it is Communication and alertness can prevent most collisions, and players have to learn to be aware of who's nearby

A baseball bat can pose a danger to players, and bats must be used with caution Players should never swing bats casually, as that's how accidents happen A good rule to follow is no swinging bats during games unless you're the hitter or on deck No one should come within a dangerous distance of anyone who is holding or swinging a bat If someone feels like practicing with a bat, it's essential to always make sure there's enough space and no one is too close If everyone is made aware how dangerous bats can be, safety can be maintained and accidents avoided

Base running is an activity that can cause injuries if players don't know the proper techniques A base runner faces several dangers, and the direction that has to be followed is a little awkward when you think about it Running around the bases requires you to constantly change directions, which makes you more vulnerable to injuries A base runner has to focus on several things at once -deciding what base to land on, avoiding being tagged out and watching out for players who may be in his path Good base running is an essential skill, both for playing well and for staying safe during games Players who stay in good physical shape will lower their risk of injury when base running, of course For both the sake of winning games and keeping players safe, it's a good idea for coaches to include base running drills during practice sessions

Safety in baseball is a combination of attentiveness, using the right equipment and following some sensible precautions Players at the earliest age should learn good habits when it comes to playing baseball safely, and coaches, parents and managers should all do their part The unexpected can always occur, but the fact is, many baseball accidents are completely preventable if such simple principles are followed
